Cornelius Vanderbilt
Vanderbilt can be credited with the expansion of the transportation network of the west. He started out in steam boating. From there, he made his millions. After tuning 60, he tried his luck at the railroad industry. Compared to his competitors, he offered better railway service for a cheaper cost. This brought him around $100 million. He was also able to capitalize on the invention of the steel rail, to better his income.
